Just for Fun!
Scenario:
It’s been a busy week and it’s time for a bit of fun to start the day.
Try This:
Write this message for your students to read as they enter the classroom first thing in the morning.
Can you stand in a corner and not think about a polar bear?
Outcomes:
What you might see:
– Looks of confusion, interest, curiosity, wonder.
– Students actually going to a corner and standing there.
– Students ignoring the sign.
– Students discussing the message.
What to do:
If any students actually go to a corner call out to them with a smile on your face,’ I know what you’re thinking about?’ Watch their reactions and responses.
The discussions generated between students create new thinking and ideas as they come to terms with how the brain operates when provided with an unusual message.
